Research and Development (R&D) activities at VJU are being implemented in close cooperation with partners such as Japanese universities, Vietnamese universities inside and outside the National University system. family. VJU is also developing a network of cooperation with R&D enterprises in Vietnam, Japan and other countries to develop and implement joint research projects or order projects.

In 2017 and 2018, through the investment project of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the Government of Vietnam has invested in laboratories for teaching, practice and research of 03 Master Programs at VJU (Technology). Nano, Environmental Engineering and Infrastructure Engineering). These laboratories have been in operation since the beginning of 2018, effectively supporting research activities and lectures and research activities of students.

Besides, with the support of the Government of Vietnam and the coordinating universities of Japan, a number of other equipment have been additionally invested such as High Performance Computing Equipment, Scanning Electron Microscope, computer systems for analyzing and forecasting climate change.

Taking advantage of the support from the Governments of Vietnam and Japan, as well as the ability of VJU faculty members to develop research proposals, the number of research projects organized by VJU is increasing every year. The number of articles/publications published also increased.
